The system which is based on a private
wireless communications infrastructure marks the beginning of a
new generation of bus transportation. It features real-time transit
data including a predictive bus departure feature.
Once you're at the interactive map, (Live
Service Map) simply "mouse" over any particular bus to see
the current status of the shuttle as it moves around the campus.
By clicking on any particular shuttle stop (black dot icons on
the map) passengers will know, in real-time, when the next three
buses will be leaving that stop. (Pop up disablers must be turned
off or overridden) There are other feature commands located at the top that allow you to customize the map to your preferences.
The system also features public messaging
capabilities (Public
Messages) allowing us to post information on Caltrain service
disruptions or other noteworthy messages to our riders.
This real-time transit information system
allows passengers to efficiently and confidently plan their transit
ride in advance. This information is also available for PDA and
low bandwidth users (Live
Service Table) as well.
